Air Mattresses and Bed Bugs

When you purchase a new mattress, the first thing on your mind may not be bed bugs.  However, this factor should definitely be a consideration.  After all, bed bugs do exist and even the cleanest of individuals can get bed bugs in their mattress.  However, if you choose to sleep on air mattresses, you can rest assured knowing that bed bugs cannot bother you while you sleep and will not be able to infest in your air beds.  Here is why this is so.

Bed Bugs Need a Place to Nest

Bed bugs need a place in which to nest.  With air mattresses, this is not possible as there are no porous openings available for these little bugs to fit within.  Air beds provide an optimal sleeping environment for you but do not allow bed bugs to nest within the top air mattress.  When other mattresses are used that are not air mattresses, the bed bugs will have the opportunity to make a home in the mattress, especially if moisture is present, which is often the case.

Bed Bugs Are Bad For Your Health

Although you may not be able to see bed bugs on your mattress, you will certainly feel if they bite. If you have a regular mattress and bed bugs access your home, they will infest innerspring mattresses and it is extremely hard to get them out. When bed bugs bite, they leave reddish marks which are itchy.  Although most of these bite marks go away in due time, some may have a chance of getting infected and causing you more pain and further health issues.  This is why obtaining air beds to sleep on is a wise move as you will not have to deal with health-related effects of bed bug bites.

If you want to say goodbye to bed bugs for good, now is the perfect time get rid of your bug-infested old mattress and to purchase an air mattresses for your home.

This is one of the upsides of using air mattresses. However, when you are buying air beds, make sure they do not contain harmful chemicals. If your child is going to sleep in this mattress, they might inhale the fumes from these chemicals. Choose air beds with more natural materials.
